- Taylor Swift’s recent silk fashion choices have sparked speculation among fans, hinting at potential Easter eggs for her upcoming music.
- With National Handloom Day upon us, Swifties wonder if August 7 might see the debut of new music.
- Past clues, such as the release of The Life of a Showgirl on National Plaid Day, has fans fully clowning once again.
If you’re a Person on the Internet (hi!), chances are you’ve noticed that Taylor Swift has been out and about a lot more than usual lately. What you may not have noticed, however, is that Blondie has been wearing a whole lot of silk…and with Taylor, nothing is a coincidence.
Yes, it’s possible that she’s simply in her ~bridal era~ of fashion. But some Swifties are convinced that her fabric choice is a sneaky Easter egg, considering that India’s National Handloom Day (which falls on August 7) is just months away. 8/7 is also a Friday this year, which is the day when new albums are released…and Travis Kelce happens to wear a #87 jersey on the Chiefs.
So…could we be getting Debutation (aka the simultaneous rerelease of both Taylor’s debut album and Reputation) on August 7? Let’s look at the evidence.
Butterflies produce silk, and butterflies are very much associated with Tay’s debut era. And National Handloom Day isn’t the only random holiday that falls on August 7. It’s also National Sea Serpent Day (yes, really)…which is giving snakes…which is giving Reputation.
Yes, this all may seem far-fetched, but let’s not forget that Tay’s latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, was dropped on National Plaid Day last year after she spent the months leading up to the release wearing plaid outfits.
This ^^ also comes amid speculation about the mermaid-coded look Taylor recently wore to a wedding in Greece, which had fans spiraling with TS13 theories. And literally none of this could mean anything. But! It’s fun to clown, no?
As a reminder: Taylor announced that she had purchased her original master recordings just about a year ago on May 30. At the time, she explained in a letter to fans that her Taylor Swift and Reputation albums would “still have their moments to re-emerge when the time is right.”
Of Reputation (Taylor’s Version), she said, “Full transparency: I haven’t even re-recorded a quarter of it. The Reputation album was so specific to that time in my life, and I kept hitting a stopping point when I tried to remake it…so I kept putting it off.”
She added, “There will be a time (if you’re into the idea) for the unreleased Vault tracks from that album to hatch. I’ve already completely re-recorded my entire debut album, and I really love how it sounds now.”
Could those albums finally be ready to hatch (say, like a butterfly from a silk cocoon…)? Time will tell!!
